Are you having some trouble figuring out what to get as a gift for the man in your life? Birthday, anniversary, Christmas, or just to show you're thinking about him, there are lots of times when you might want to give a guy a gift. Unfortunately, it's not always easy to choose a gift that he will both appreciate and use.
One helpful starting point is to take a look at a guy's lifestyle, and where he is most likely to use the gift you give him the most. Home's obviously the first choice, but you can quickly run out of options when looking for gift ideas at home. If you already have a big screen television, a bunch of tools, and an instant water heater, there might not be too much else on the wish list.

Desk jobs are probably one of the easiest to buy a gift for. It never hurts to give a guy a picture frame, complete with a picture of the people he loves most in it. That kind of gift fits in well anywhere; if he's manning a desk at a bank or in the SR&ED department at a major business, it will fit right in.
Another great office type gift is clothing. A lot of office jobs call for a suit and tie dress code, even if it's unofficial. Getting a nice tie for a guy on a special occasion is kind of a Canadian trademark when it comes to gift giving. There's a lot of opportunity to get unique with your style today though, as even ties have lost a lot of their formal requirements.
Getting a good gift for any guy in a plant or industrial setting can be a little bit more difficult. You can't get too sentimental, as odds are most of his co-workers will give him a hard time about it. However, with a little bit of forethought and some insight into his actual job, you might be able to get him the perfect gift. A guy monitoring the oil rigs in Alberta, for example, might appreciate a new home movie via DVD replication. Toronto, Vancouver, and other cities all over the country have residents working far from home in the oil fields, and a nice movie can be a reminder of home.
Remember that whether the man in your life for whom you are buying a gift is a mill worker or an electronic design consultant, the workplace can be a great place to start brainstorming your gift ideas.
